What's up, fellas—
I'm nd523, an 18-year-old Sheik player that has been watching competitive Melee for about 6 years. Up until then, I had played it casually among my elementary school friends. As a literal toddler, I picked up Roy because he looked cool, and mained him almost exclusively until about 2016. I've always been extremely competitive, and Melee was my game. As I got older (around 13), I would spend hours a day grinding Melee tech with Roy, and the results were starting to pay off among my friend group. Eventually, I chose to switch to a better character (Sheik, of course) because I disliked constantly playing with a –2 matchup.
Luigi is my secondary, and I'm absolutely awful with him. I like how he plays and the way he moves in higher-level play, so I've announced him as my secondary to force myself to get better. I like playing as underrepresented or just plain awful characters, so I also play a bit of G&W and Bowser (who, coincidentally, are my secondary and main in Ultimate, respectively).
I've entered very few tournaments in my Melee career. In a casual setting, I dominate—in high school Melee/PM/SSB4 tournaments I generally would place in the top 3. I went to RCCC 2018, and was promptly beaten in pools by SpiderJew.
Now, at long last, I'm here on SmashLadder. Time to lose a lot of matches. Follow me on Twitch at nd523!
