This is a depiction of the collision planes of Battlefield at the edge. You can see that they do not match the flat-sided graphics of the Battlefield ledge and this is why players will miss recovery unless they hit the ledge cleanly.

The large blue rectangle is the viewbox for the character and the game's camera uses it to orient itself appropriately.

The small red and blue rectangles are ledge grab and reverse ledge grab boxes which determine whether or not you will grab a ledge.
