Smash 64 Netplay Guide: P2P

How to Connect Via p2p:

As you may have noticed by now, Smash 64 desyncs A LOT via the Smash FU server. This method is a bit more tedious, but bear in mind, it should be simple after the initial process is over.

 

(This is REQUIRED to play Ranked Ladder matches!)

Before we go any further, your connection MUST be Port Forwarded if you are to host. We HIGHLY encourage anyone who is playing to Port Forward their device to prevent connection errors. Since every router is different, follow the guide linked above for Port Forwarding and also this website to port forward your router: http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm

 

**The most commonly used port for Smash 64 is 27886. Keep this in mind when you port forward your router**

 

Setting up a P2P Match

 

First go to  File > Start Netplay, and set change mode to 1. P2P: http://prntscr.com/5swkyv

 

At this point, you should have already Port Forwarded your device. If you have not, please do so.

 

To Host:

 

When you host make sure you know your IP address first, and what ports you allocated for port forwarding. For example: IP Address:Port: 98.162.127.106:27886 The First half, is your physical IP address. The last part :27886 is the port you have open.  To find your IP address simply type “IP Address” in google and it should instantly show you.

 

Share both the IP and the port in the same matter shown to your partner. From here, go ahead and start hosting: http://prntscr.com/5swztw

 

If your ports are forwarded correctly, your opponent should be able to join: http://prntscr.com/5sx0p6

 

Once your partner has joined, make sure he selects he is ready, and once you select: Click when ready; the game will load and the server will allocate the best buffer for you. http://prntscr.com/5sx1kq

 

To join

 

When you Start Netplay, make sure you are still set to Change mode: 1. P2P. Once done, select connect beside host. Make sure you have "Let system allocate port when not hosting" checked. In the Peer IP block, input your partner's IP address and port. When all is finished, press connect: http://prntscr.com/5sx2c5

 

If your host's ports are forwarded correctly, and the correct IP:Port is given, you should be connected. When you're ready, check "Click here when ready" and the game will start when the host is ready: http://prntscr.com/5t30ar
