After all this time...
Wow, 8 years since I've done anything with this account! It's amazing how time flies, scary even, but I'd like to think I got better since then.
I was thinking of getting into the competitive scene when I went to Combo Breaker 2024 and had some friendlies with peep. I was actually holding my own pretty well against guys that were competing in bracket. I thought to myself "Hey, I know I won't win anything like top 8, but how far can I go?", I guess that's how it all starts. I'm 27 and my age discouraged me a bit, but I see top players like Nobi who's in his 30's and still going, the big Melee players who are probably my age still in the scene, and even ElvenShadow who's got his wife and kids cheering him on. Why let age stop any of us? Maybe now's the time to get involved since I'm familiar with the scene now.
To anyone who's a little older than most, don't let that alone stop you. For some of us it takes years, and I mean years, to get to a spot where we can attend these events and actually participate in them. However, we are only going to get better if we keep at it! I may have a full time job and other responsibilities, but I'll be sure to find time to do the things I love, and Smash is one of them.
Let's settle it in Smash!
