Its 8'th March, 2019. Just a few short weeks ago I had never played a Smash game in my life.
My segway into the Smash community was an unexpected one. As a rather prominent Pokemon nuzlocker I went back and decided to do a few challenge runs of Pokemon Blue. As I was formulating my teams I came upon the realisation that both Jigglypuff (my plan B if I didn't get Clefairy in Mt. Moon, which was likely) and Pikachu (in Viridian Forest, which is rare) have both been in every Smash game ever made.
The writing was on the wall.
I had already owned a 64 so I went to a nearby retro gaming store and bought Smash 64 and I think I fell in love.
The game has little options, a bonkers physics system, only one just barely legal stage, but something about it felt so passionate. This makes sense, as you could count the amount of people who put real work into Smash 64 on your fingers.
I slowly got used to my main, Jiggs by hitting the lab, playing against friends, doing 1 life runs of Hard and Very Hard 1P mode (goddamn the fighting polygon team) and 1v2 and 1v3 teams of level 9s. Now I quietly feel as if I am at least competent and ready to step into netplay.
So here I am. Where are you?
