Time off work that is.
I forgot I have over 30 days saved to not go into work. I'm taking about 10 days to go play Melee basically. There's not much else to update on at the moment. I'll make an update when I'm 100% sure the request is approved. Priority will go to bigger tournaments and I'll make plans for lodging and whatnot.
On the other hand, I'm focusing on creating quality practice sessions. I got lazy and just went into 20XX to fight against the bots and picked up some bad habits on the way in neutral that I need to iron out.
*EDIT/Random Update 5/27/18 6:12AM
I guess I got lucky and I didn't have to go into work on Friday. Drove out a couple hours to a weekly and learned the importance of keeping composure.
Quick recap: 3-3 in my sets, which is a huge improvement.
I could have performed better in my earlier sets (multiple SDs and screwups) but I focused on trying to learn something and not getting salty about my screwups. I know everything will fall in place someday. Apparently I'm pretty good at the Puff MU, which is weird because I've only had played a couple of them. Twice in the local I went up against a Puff player and I played out of my mind. Even clutching out a 2-1 stock deficit. I owe it completely to being able to focus on the match and noticing what my opponent doesn't know how to deal with and abusing it. As of now I'm keeping up the practice, which I've revamped.
I've written up a notepad with a list of things I want to work on and gave them all a number, for example I put Shield Drops as number 4 in a list of about 18+ important techs to improve my overall consistency and comfort with using them in a match.
I use an RNG generator to randomly choose a tech or scenario that I can simulate in 20XX and use it to practice. Once I got my number I choose on my own how long I want to practice that tech. Typically it will be about 3-5 mins, but if I feel like I really want to practice a certain thing I'll give it more attention.
I got this idea from my times at group Physical Training when we would do circuits, in those circuits we would do a exercise and then do a short run, afterwards we would do another exercise.
(another small note, I realized that deleting Overwatch was a huge overreaction. I just need to learn to control myself that's all.)
6/27/18(I didn't plan this honest) Update #2
I wasn't in the best shape to be running around much so I ended up mostly playing Netplay and Overwatch and rest. I've also re-revamped my training and note-taking processes. I'll explain in another post. This one is too clogged as it is.
