Why PM is the Best Smash Iteration.

Why Project M is the best smash iteration overall (competitively and non-competitively):

Competitive Reasons:

  1. Melee Mechanics: Project M incorporates the heart and soul of true smash: speed and control-complexity. Smash is objectively a more interesting game with the complexity of melee mechanics. Newcomers can compare competitive melee with sm4sh, brawl, or even smash 64, and they'll find themselves most entertained by melee because of its high-speed, high-intensity style of play.
  2. Character Balance: Melee characters were brought in and nerfed/buffed. Brawl characters were balanced, and remade, creatively.
  3. Overall Character Roster and Revitalization: People will complain about gimmicks, but it just means you gotta learn the game and the match-ups. It adds so much more depth to competitive play.
  4. Smashville and other stages.
  5. Easily modifiable: (Melee can also be modded, but brawl is easier and has HD textures.)
  6. Amazing community: PM players know how hard it is to stay relevant, and because of that, we try extra hard to keep this game fresh.

Purely Non-competitive Reasons:

  1. Subspace Emissary. 'Nuff said.
  2. Characters, Stages, Game-modes
  3. HD textures and the state of being modifiable

Counter-Arguments:

  1. "Too many gimmicks." Nah, just gotta watch more matches, learn the game, and the characters. (For those who don't know, a gimmick IMO is basically a character-specific technique that's relied heavily upon that will grant a large advantage if the opponent has little knowledge of it.) Also known as "cheese" in some instances. (Ganon's random wizard kicks, or Wario's "GO" attack)
  2. "1 innate frame of Input Delay." Yup. That's the only valid reason to not like this game. Luckily, the dolphin version of the game has work-arounds for that. But it's hard to play the dolphin version on a CRT anyway.
  3.  "Dead game" Shut up. You're the one who's dead for saying that. In all seriousness, the community may be less lively right now than it was a few years back, but it's still thriving with thousands of players all around. Just gotta look in the right places. Like this website for instance.
  4. No more development:  Yup. You're right. But that also means that 3.6 is the final version, forever. Now the game just has to transcend into Melee-level complexity with techs and other discoveries.

First Blog Post, done during internship work hours. (Since I can't play smash)

Thanks for reading.
