Let's get the cringe that is first blog posts done quickly. This will primarily be an info dump.
IGN: Talenheim, nick. Tal
Location: DMV, specifically NoVA. Timezone EST
Age: 19 as of writing
Jobs/Profession/School: Currently out of school and working part-time at an ice rink, but plan to go back to school to learn Welding.
Game(s): Melee
Main(s): Unsure, likely Dr. Mario
Game skill: I can reliably short-hop, and... that's it. Boy do I have a lot to learn.
I am more than willing to accept help and games from people, although I will most likely refrain from ranked until I am comfortable with my Tech skill. Marth players are especially welcome, as he seems to be my worst matchup regardless of who I'm playing.
I am currently unsure of my main. At first I wanted a strong punish game and neutral pressure, so I went Samus. After a while, I realized a more defensive playstyle didn't really cater to me, as I usually preferred approaching rather than making the opponent approach. I had a brief stint with Pichu, which is now over. Most recently I was experimenting with Dr. Mario, but he eventually started to fall flat for me.
Thing is, there are only a few characters I'm not okay with maining, not counting the more unviable ones. These are Fox, Ice Climbers, Ganondorf, and probably Falco, although I'm not as positive on him. I've also noticed that, while I find them fun in a casual setting, Jigglypuff, Marth, Sheik, Captain Falcon, and Luigi would not fit me in a competitive standpoint, due to either general playstyle or other reasons. This more or less narrows down the pool to Peach, Pikachu, Samus, and Doctor Mario. As I mentioned before, my playstyle does not primarily cater towards defensive play, so Samus is most likely out of this pool, as is probably Peach (unless I can get away with being a turnip-spamming, dashattack-spamming, aerial-approaching, smash-sideBing type of Peach in a professional enviroment, which I don't think I could do). I've also mentioned that Doc seemed to fall flat when playing him, leaving my "preferred" pool to Pikachu and maybe Peach. For this reason, even though I'm still currently unsure, and would still be fine with maining a character not in my "preferred" pool, I will currently be trying out Pikachu, to see if he fits my playstyle.
